Red Wing StonewareWe are always interested in purchasing uncommon examples of Red Wing stoneware. Stoneware made in Red Wing, Minnesota, may be marked RED WING STONEWARE COMPANY, MINNESOTA STONEWARE COMPANY, NORTH STAR STONEWARE (usually a star and the word NORTH above it or stamped into the five points of the star), or RED WING UNION STONEWARE COMPANY. Such markings may be stamped into the clay on the side or base of the piece, or embossed on the base, or stamped in blue on the side or base of the stoneware. Items we seek include lunch hour pieces such as the little boy holding a crock, a pig, a bull dog, or a grouping of animals like cows and calves. We are very interested in jugs (large or small) with merchant advertising such as those with liquor or grocer ads on them, and crocks or jugs featuring cobalt blue decorations like the example shown here with a large blue butterfly.
